Last Friday I made some resolutions (I will update my resolutions each month in the tab above). Every weekend I will report back the week’s progress 1. to keep you informed and 2. to keep me accountable :-). Friday, I made a statement that I would begin to exercise 3 times a week. I know that statement is vague but it gives me some latitude. Fortunately for me, Hubbs came home Saturday and informed me that he needed to begin running consistently because his job is becoming more stringent about physical fitness testing. Bam! We discussed an exercise plan. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday mornings – at least a 1.5 mile “run” (hopefully increasing with time). Tuesday, Thursday mornings – yoga. This past week I took some time to get in some sort of an exercising rhythm.
Sunday West Seattle – We “ran” 1.5 miles. Now when I say run, I mean run for as long as we can before walking about 1/4 mile or less to alleviate cramping etc. before finishing out our run.
Monday – After running Sunday, I realized it was time for new running shoes. I went down to The Balanced Athlete at The Landing in Renton. The gentleman had me run barefoot on a treadmill while video recording. He then analyzed my style in order to suggest shoes to help reduce ankle pain, shin splints and reduce the possibility of injury. After about an hour and a half in the store, I walked home with these puppies…
Now I’m sure it would take most people less than an hour to buy a good pair of running shoes but me, I like to be certain I am spending my hard earned dollars on exactly what I want and need. I walked out a little lighter in the wallet but it was definitely worth it.
Tuesday Newcastle – I did 1 mile on the elliptical, 2 miles on the treadmill (in my new shoes 🙂 ). Yoga for 1 hour when I got home.
Wednesday Renton – I walked with a friend 3 miles
Saturday Alki Beach – We went for a 2 mile run
Overall I’d say this week was productive and I certainly kept up with my resolutions. I also noticed that I have more energy throughout the day and I sleep better at night when I exercise. I also crave healthier food. This seems to be a good start! Hopefully I’ll be able to say the same next weekend!
