Doughnuts, Doughnuts, I love you.

My final post about last weekend’s Portland adventure, is about something that I truly love with all my heart.  Doughnuts.  That’s right people, you didn’t hear me wrong.  Doughnuts.  They are the one glutenous treat that I consistently crave.

Portland is the home of one of the most excentric doughnut shops around the US.  It has even been featured on Food Network!  Voodoo Doughnuts is located in “Old Town” Portland, OR.  When you arrive, you will most likely have to wait in line…

Once inside, you can choose from over 40 different varieties of doughnuts!  All are on mechanically rotating display for your viewing pleasure before purchase (Cash Only People!)

All are fabulous!  We sampled a few including the Maple Bacon bar, the Cock-N-Balls, Apple Fritter and the Voodoo Doll.

They also have impossibly ridiculous voodoo decorations.

Ode to Doughnuts

Doughnuts, Doughnuts I love you I do,

Doughnuts, Doughnuts full of gluten are you

Doughnuts, Doughnuts I’ll eat you any how

Doughnuts, Doughnuts you make my belly say ow

Doughnuts, Doughnuts I love you I do

Doughnuts, Doughnuts you’re worth it, its true

I hope you made it out alive on the other side of my horrid poetry!

You just gotta be weird if you don’t like donuts…

That looks like an awesome shop. Too bad I’m not a fan of these particular confections! (If I went to Portland, I’d have to go stand in line there just for the thrill of the experience, though. “Oh, nothing for me thanks– just browsing!”)
