I have been asking hubbs about getting some fish for about 3 months. So finally, his friend who accidentally bred some molly fish, offered us some as well as a tank, and hubbs accepted! YAY FISH! Saturday, we had some visitors and some new family members. 5 beautiful creamsicle Molly fish, welcome home! We set up the tank, ate some dinner and our dear friends were on their merry way, five fish lighter in their home tank.
Sunday morning, our fish were struggling but we added some more water, called and texted the fish’s previous owners and hoped for the best. We purchased African Dwarf Frogs, nitrate tester strips, plants, rocks and a Mount Wanna-hawk-a-lougie of our very own. Our tank was looking good.
By Sunday night, this was me….
So. Very. Sad. We watched our fish as they slowly withered and I yelled at the frogs. Bastard frogs kept chasing our sad, dying fishies.
It is now Wednesday and all but one of our five new lovely fish has gone to their watery toilet bowl grave. And our last one is on his way out…
We are discouraged, but not giving up. Our fishy fight is not over. We plan to do a little more research, let our tank and water get normalized and try again. Hubbs’ friends have about 25 more fish and already offered us more. They also admitted that they expected us to kill most, if not all of them. So I guess were a little worse for wear, but still in good shape.
