Slider’s Visit to the Beach

Jake and Slider were nice enough to visit during their journey from Fairbanks, AK to Springfield, MA.  Slider had been in the car for a little over 2000 miles already and I figured it was time to get him out and wear him out.  After playing in the grass for a bit at the hotel, I thought a trip to the beach might be fun for the pup.  Slider had never been to the beach and wasn’t too sure about the sand or the water at first.  It didn’t take him long to get used to it though.

It is always exciting when family comes through town and has some time to hang out.  We had a great time at Alki Beach playing with Slider.

On our way to the car we were in for a big treat.  A bald eagle was sitting among some rocks enjoying his catch.  It was a beautiful opportunity to see nature close up.

We drove up to UW to pick up Hubbs and go to dinner.  It was great to visit before Jake and Slider had to continue their journey east.  Travel Safe Boys, Love You!

I’ve always wondered about dogs who don’t grow up near an ocean: how do they react to sand? to surf? to sea life? It looks like Slider warmed up to the Pacific NW experience pretty quickly! Who can blame him? 😉

  2. Slider grew up in Alaska so anything other than snow was a new adventure for him. I must say he is very well behaved. I think the sand and the cold water were a new sensation on his feet, and in his mouth from the tennis ball, but he just loved it just the same.
